A friend recently forwarded an email to me they got from the Democratic National Committee, written by James Carville. I was very struck by the language Mr. Carville used in this fund raising letter for the DNC.
Has it really come to this kind of childish name calling? Apparently, it has.
Mr. Carville writes, "After a summer of out-of-control town halls, I thought the outrageous behavior of the the birthers, deathers and other crazies leading the Republican Party couldn't get any worse." (NOTE: By the way, the typo WAS in the original email).
Derogatory terms so litter this email that it smacks of kindergarten name calling.
Mr. Carville continues, 'Then, Joe 'You Lie' Wilson tried to shout down the President of the United States in front of Congress and the dam burst.
Instead of condemning Wilson, Republicans hailed him as a hero, and he's raised more than $2 million from right-wing activists since his shameful outburst."
Let me be clear that I entirely disagree with what Rep. Wilson did. But there is a certain irony that Mr. Carville condemns him so quickly while committing a similar sin repeatedly in this one email.
As he starts to close his email, Mr. Carville says, "Republicans know they're out of ideas, so now they not only encourage shouting, smears, and distortions -- they actually reward it.
I almost feel sorry for Republicans as they watch the lunatic fringe gobble up what's left of their party.
But when you join hands with people who don't believe President Obama is an American citizen...or think he's the anti-Christ ... or compare him to Hitler and his policies to Nazi Germany, don't be surprised when they drag you and your party down the rabbit hole into a reality-free zone."
Again, the name calling continues. Is this the sort of thing the American people should expect from those who are supposedly our leaders? We have a right to expect more. We wouldn't let our children carry on this way. It is shameful.
I'm long past the point of associating with either the democrats or the republicans. I have no use for either party. This is just one example of many that can be found on either side of the aisle that tells me that Americans need to start expecting more from our leaders.

simply awesome! great post. The politicians on both sides of the aisle are out of touch with America. The problem is that those on the left no longer recognize real grass root efforts since they are the true masters of astroturf.
Joe Wilson has balls....what's a shame is that more alleged "republican" congressmen don't. Is it disgraceful to be honest? Our celebrity-in-chief IS a liar - sorry, the truth hurts.
